Doug Kruse, VP, Branch Retail Administration
We’ve circled the sun once again and are headed into another new year. While you may be setting out to learn something new or are planning to tackle a fitness challenge, this is also a good time of year to dust off those old skills and fine tune them.
When’s the last time you brushed up on your banking basics? From account details to getting your money moving, here is a quick rundown on some financial facts that can make your banking experience a better one!
Banking Basics Tip #1: Finding your Account and Routing Numbers
Your routing and account numbers are the gateway to your finances. If you don’t know them off the top of your head, do you know how to find them? Luckily, there are convenient ways to access them.
First, the old school way. If you take out your checkbook, you can find your routing and account numbers in the bottom left corner of your checks. The first number is the routing number and the second is your unique account number.
Note, that Waterford’s routing number is 041215854.
If you don’t keep checks handy, your account number can easily be located in mobile banking too.
Log into your mobile banking app and select the account you wish to view from the account’s menu. This will open a new menu with details for the selected account. At the top you will see the name of the account, along with the last 4 digits of the account number, and an eye icon. The account is masked to protect you from prying eyes, but clicking the eye icon will display the full account number.
Click the eye icon when viewing an account in mobile banking to reveal the full account number.
Banking Basics Tip #2: Depositing a Check
While you’re still more than welcome to stop by and see us in our branches (and we love it when you do!), gone are the days when that was your only option for depositing a check.
Nowadays, you can enjoy depositing checks from your convenience of your camera-enabled smartphone or tablet via the Waterford Mobile Banking App – saving you time, money, and a trip to the Bank. And if you’re worried about security, we use advanced encryption technology and multi-layer authentication to assist in keeping your protected information safe.
Depositing checks is a snap – literally, when you deposit them with the help of your camera on your mobile device.
You can learn more about Mobile Deposit here.
If you’re a business with multiple checks to deposit, we’ve got you covered there too. Our Treasury Management department offers Remote Deposit Capture, so you can deposit funds right from your office. A compatible deposit scanner, computer, and internet access is all you need to make remote deposits.
If you prefer to forgo the technological track, you’re welcome at any of our full-service branches. These offices are located in Toledo and Perrysburg, Ohio, as well as Clarkston and Troy, Michigan. When you arrive one of our team members will greet you and can take your deposit slip and check. Been awhile since you filled out a deposit slip? Any of our tellers would be happy to assist you!
Our Toledo, Perrysburg, and Clarkston locations all offer night deposit boxes. This is a secured bank box, with an exterior opening, where customers can deposit cash and checks outside of regular business hours. We will then collect the deposits and credit them to your account the morning of the next business day.
Banking Basics Tip #3: Waterford Bank Benefits
Finally, you can bank anywhere – but we appreciate you’ve chosen us as your financial partner. As a Waterford customer, you’ll enjoy some benefits you won’t find at all other banks:
- ATM Usage Reimbursement – Did you know at Waterford Bank we reimburse ATM Usage Fees up to $30.00 or 10 times per month, whichever comes first. Couple that with the ability to get this benefit at any ATM worldwide and you can get back to enjoying your day with money in your pocket at no additional cost!
- Instant Issue Debit Cards – Misplaced that debit card? You don’t have to wait on USPS for a new one. Enjoy a new or replacement debit card at a moment’s notice, now available at all our full-service offices. Learn more about Instant Issue Debit Cards here.
- Waterford Customer Care – Having a little trouble with online banking? Need a hand setting up debit card alerts? No problem!
